FLORHAM PARK, N.J. – New York Jets owner Woody Johnson says his team’s 8-8 finish last season was “good,” but he insists he won’t be satisfied unless this year’s squad goes further.
While Johnson, speaking during minicamp practice Wednesday, wouldn’t put any specific goals on his team, he says this year’s Jets are “absolutely” better than the group that walked off the field in Miami after the season finale in December.
Johnson added that type of optimism is something he feels before every season. He says that feeling is helped by the fact quarterback Geno Smith is in his second season, and the offense is more familiar and comfortable with coordinator Marty Mornhinweg’s system.
